Description of the Program: This workshop is designed to provide an overview of ethical standards for psychologists and other mental health professionals. Dr. Bersoff will present examples of ethical dilemmas that clinicians might face for discussion and illumination of the ethical standards. The workshop fulfills the Continuing Education in Ethics requirement by the Pennsylvania Psychology Licensing Board and the Pennsylvania State Board of Social Workers, Marriage & Family Therapists, and Professional Counselors. |

OBJECTIVES:

provide up-to-date information on the new HIPAA
standards

To guide psychologists and mental health professionals in how to seek assistance in resolving ethical dilemmas Dr. Donald Bersoff is a nationally renowned expert on legal and ethical issues in mental health, developmental disabilities, and education. Before coming to Drexel, Professor Bersoff directed the JD/PhD Program in Law and Psychology offered jointly by Villanova University Law School and the Department of Clinical & Health Psychology at MCP Hahnemann University. He has produced more than 100 books, articles, and papers on law, ethics, and social policy. He is the author of the landmark “Ethical Conflicts in Psychology,” published by the American Psychological Association, the 4th edition of which is being translated into Chinese. In 2007 he presented an invited paper at Oxford University on “The Use of Nongovernmental Organizations to Foster Unethical Government Conduct."
